Based on Agatha Christie's The Gypsy
From Radio Times Choice of the Day
One of Agatha Christie's lesser-known works, this is a short story that deal with ESP, spiced with a touch of myth and a pinch of spiritualisum. It is a slight piece but still keeps the audience guessing right to the end. Butch sailor Dickie Carpenter, the kind of man who slaps chaps on the back and says "what ho", tells his good friend Robert, a dour Scot, that since he was a child he has been haunted by dreams of a woman dressed in red. Her warnings to him are always ignored - fatally, in one instance. When Robert goes to meet the gypsy of the title, she tells him something he doesn't want to hear. Will he take heed?
A new contemporary dramatisation
An eerie tale of love and loss in which Dickie Carpenter, a war-wounded sailor, is haunted by strange visitations from a ghostly woman. His friend Robert sets out to solve the mystery of these visions, and finally of Dickie's death, only to find himself fighting for his own life in a terrifying battle between love and death.
